Audio and Clips

hi guys
don't seem to find an answer to this or I'm looking in the wrong place
my problem is that my iMac as you my know doesn't have an audio in to i can't use anything really
so im using a music track in my composition on a redundant column (9)
and i want to trigger clips with and without bpm
but it seems to get to be a problem as i seem not to be able to get the layers to work independently
whats the best setting for each clip and the best setting for the layers.
i seem find videos that give you the option of an internal sound app but my version won't see it.
i hope this gets a cross

Just get a USB audio device. They are very cheap and work great.
