Intensity pro 4k - just black

Post by coz3r »

I cant for the life of me get anything but black on my ip4k. I know its getting signal... when I switch formats with the incoming folsom image pro, the black magic desktop video app acknowledges that change. Anyone have any tricks to make this come alive?

It sounds like you're dealing with DHCP content? DHCP will prevent you from capturing the image with a capture card so you can probably get the audio through but all you see is black.

In that case you need to lift the DHCP before the Folsom Pro. I use a J-Tech Digital HDMI Splitter 1x2 to do the trick. I haven't tried with the J-Tech 4K model but it should work the same way.

That would be my first thought but I cant even get a test pattern from the folsom to come through. Tried on the analog rgb side and the hdmi side.

Have you selected the right resolution/framerate combination? Options are in a drop-down menu in the clip panel of the Intensity Pro 4K source.

Yeah definitely, it's always matched to the source but still just black.

Can you describe how you set up your Barco Folsom pro? Do you have the kind with the two outputs or just one?

It has 2. DVI and 5 wire. One of my VJ's came in and tested the folsom with his BM shuttle and mac book. He was able to connect to both the dvi (to hdmi) and 5 wire (well 3 wire) and get video. So maybe I haven't set up the card right? I took it out and reseated it but no luck. Its weird that the BM video app can see the change in format when I change it on the folsom AND that Resolume recognizes it as a source but still no video. Is there such a thing as the drivers being TOO up to date? I only ask because my version of BM desktop video was newer than the guy who got the video working.

Your video source doesn't matter for DHCP if you have a 2.

The bigger issue is that technically HDMI and DVI send out similar signals but not exactly the same. Why you'll see scalers that ask if you want your HDMI to send out DVI or HDMI signals. If you're frame rate and colorspace(What colorspace are you using? RGB or YPBPR?

Also what exact model of image pro are you using? folsom image pro? Barco 2?

Welcome to black magic land, also if your outputting at 60hz from the folsom try 59.94 for the blackmagic.
