Dual GPU black flicker

Post by rbhun »

Hi

we are trying to set up a multi-monitor setup. So far all the advises pointed to a powerful 1st GPU doing the work, and a second GPU, hopefully identical, to do the extra outputs.

I have installed two R7s to start - later I hope to use the two R7s in two machines and add smaller cards next to them. But this is a start.

So resolume test, two monitors attached to one card, 1080p noise, 10 layers (something is wrong with the SSD, but that is our base point). Attached a second HD screen on the first card with an active DP adapter, as thats the only way. dropped to 7-8 layers, but I can live with that.

After that, I moved the second monitro to the second card...all monitors start to flicker like hell...like 20hz. I tried DVI, HDMI, even active DP, nothing, all outputs will cause this.

5.0.2, W010, 1280x1024 op monitor, two 1080 screens on output. Core2Duo 2,6GHz, 128GB SSD, 8GB RAM (will add more tomorrow), radeon R7s. Windows on max performance, global blending is off.

any ideas?

Yeah, AMD cards are known for that. Try making an Eyefinity group.

ok, radeon 16 drivers solved that. I know that AMD can do this, but I have never experienced it because of dual cards.

now, if I start resolume with the two monitors activated, its startup fps is 30. If I call up one layer from the 1080p benchmark fps drops to 19. I assume something else is wrong as this systems should be able to pull 3 monitors on two cards.

with the number of people asking the multi GPU question, maybe you want to extend your benchmark to 1, 2...5 HD screen benchmarks...

thanks

People have done benchmark test with multiple screens with various cards. The issue is most likely some of the settings for the driver that need to be changed.

One of mine (Titan x and gtx 780)

Thank you guys. I am finding my way around...we picked the best parts of 3 machines and now working on one, will start from there. Anybody has a similar setup guide for AMDs?
