I did a check and did not find a topic on this particular set up question.
When building Lumiverses in artnet each universe must be addressed from the preferences menu to correspond with the Lumiverses created in the advances output mapping.
each output on my LED controller can control 340 ch per universe.
I have numbered them each in order 1-16
i have created a fixture to match the Leds in that universe i.e. 1-100 or 1-33 three times
when i go to the preferences DMX window to set the new output for each Lumiverse i pick it from the dropdown select subnet 0 (within universe 1-16) and assign the matching universe number +1. (controller number is 2 resolume number is 3) at some point this stops working and the dropdown selection reverts back to a different lumiverse and most of the led strings end up on one or two lumiverses.
What is the best way to build lumiverses and have them properly assigned in the preferences DMX selection tool?
build your set up off line or can this be done on the fly as LED fixtures are added to a set up.
i have 100ch, 37ch, and 18ch custom tubes. they are sturng together but not to exceed 340 pixels or 111 Ch's
i just need a better understanding of the numbering sequence and when to start utilizing the sub net numbering? i think after universe 16 in art net... 17 would be subnet 1 but still 17 in resolume universe label.
Any help appreciated. i read the Resolume manual and some info on artnet protocol but it is geared towards dmx consoles and not media servers running LED light ribbon.
Thank you

multiple Artnet universes set up?
Re: multiple Artnet universes set up?
Universes are sub-divisions of a Subnet not the other way around (and Subnets are a sub-divisions of Nets but that's only applicable in ArtNet III)

- Artnet II (which is what's implemented in Arena 5) you have 1 Net divided 16 Subnets (2^4) divided in 16 Universes (2^4) for a total of 256 Universes (2^8) and in Artnet III you have 128 Nets (2^7) divided 16 Subnets (2^4) divided in 16 Universes (2^4) for a theoretical total of 32768 Universes
- The Artnet subnet and universe you select in Resolume need to match your ArtNet controllers. The part where it gets confusing is that the 1st Subnet is Subnet 0 and the first Universe is Universe 0 and so on and so forth.
Once you've assigned your Artnet universes to your controller, you can choose which Lumiverse sends data to your Artnet universe and the same Lumiverse could be used to control multiple Artnet universes but if you do that they would have the same data going in.
I personally like to keep subnet 0 universe 0 for my ArtNet Input in Resolume so my first ArtNet Ouput would be Subnet 0 Universe 1 which make it easier to remember. That way Lumiverse 1 goes Subnet 0 Universe 1.
