3d object mapping issue

Post by grain »

Hello, it's been a few month that i'm working on a 3d abject in order to video map it... it's like 3 cylinders, now...
when i open the advanced options in "output" i can only add points and edit linear or bezier, but they have fixed positions and sometimes that position is not exactly in the point i want to translate my form, i mean: is it possible to place points wherever i want and then ?

Thank you, I hope to have explained my problem somehow with my poor english :)

No, you can only subdivide the slices in half, quarters, eighth, etc.. so there is no direct way to locate point precisely but you can work around that limitation by creating multiple slices and sizing their inputs/ouputs so that the points end up exactly how you want to map your object. You can then move points in various slices and copy/paste their coordinates as well as the handles' coordinates.

Take a look at this video where I split the screen in 1/3 & 2/3 slices:

thank you very much for your quick reply and the video! :)
I did try that way some months ago, but find it not fitting 100% my needs (i have few minutes to map the object), but i'll try again in this way you mentioned because maybe it's better than using points that are not in the place i what them to be and distort too much the image...
Thank you again!

Make sure you copy and past all the coordinates for each shared points between slices. It's a bit time consuming but I hope it works for you.

As an alternative, if you're on a mac you could explore using software like Visution Mapio 2 in conjunction with Resolume .

http://visution.com/mapio and it can be used as a FFGL plug-in within Resolume.

After you install mapio, restart Resolume and you will find the plugin under Effects>Visution Mapio 2 then drop the effect on a layer or the composition and open the editor.

There are a few videos on YouTube to show you how the software works.
