Audio Routing Limitations?

Post by projectneptune »

Hi There,

I am wondering if there is a way to route the audio to more than 2 sets of outputs? I have been attempting to send my audio via 64ch soundflower into ableton live, to be used in an 11.1 speaker system. I know it is possible send the main outputs to 1 and 2 and the preview outputs to 3 and 4, but I am requiring much more flexibility and diversity in routing. Is it possible to use more of soundflower's channels?

I have already attempted to build a system to control Ableton scenes with Resolume Columns over Osculator, but it has been a cumbersome effort, and I don't think it will produce the flexible system I am wishing for, particularly when it comes to scrubbing, pausing and maintaining sync.

I would ultimately like to be able to independently send the audio from each of my videos simultaneously to any number of audio outputs for further routing in ableton and finally a Yamaha CL1 digital board. To put it another way, it would be great if one could select the specific audio outputs in the "advanced output" options along side the video output. Perhaps this is just wishful thinking... Please let me know if anyone has found any solutions to this, or has any suggestions.

Thanks so much!

This is indeed currently a limitation.

We have a few low priority tickets, some for this feature and a few that are related to it. Things like surround sound support and output via HDMI or BM devices that support audio would require better routing options as well.

For the time being, video is our main priority, but these audio improvements are on the radar.

Has there been any further discussion of updating this feature? Don't mean to be a bother with this. I have been a major proponent of the use of resolume arena in technical theater as a live video control system, but many places don't want to be limited to two audio channels connected to their video content, or having to deal with multichannel sync issues outside of the platform. Any new information on this would be very welcomed! :)

Thanks!

+1 on needing the audio multi-channel capability.

Also interested in more than 2 audio output channels.

For a current project I need LR audio out but i also need to feed a click track for the drummer.
Or are there any creative work arounds?

Does anyone have any news regarding multi channel audio? Looking forward buying a Dante card. I will need 12 audio channels and counting. Is there any support planned for Resolume so far?
