as far as I know there is a HUGE price difference, Scan Convertors are very expensive.

Bets are on !

Arby, comparing furry Tv-outs with high-end scannies, now there's a fair deal :)

If you want a good scanconverter, you are at least 500$ lighter. ( And that's mid-range even)

Ofcourse you have hardware control of the image is a pro (perhaps), but don't we have that in software now-a-days? And! I wouldn't bet on the non-tearing output, had some bad experience with the mid-range scannies also.

If you have a decent videocard like an ATI m9 or up, I would still go for the software approach, cause all your described functions are managable with the software driver overlay.

A note I should make which perhaps wasn't obvious, the s-video out often can use some stabilization from a video-mixer, but don't we all use a v4 / mx50.

Don't even start on portability..

Place your bets now people! =D

Sincerly yours,
nz

scannies

Post by arby »

hi man,

some of the cheapies are nasty, ive had a few, but believe me for £140 for one of the canopus scans i was on about, really do cut the mustard,

check em out

http://www.canopus-uk.com/UK/products/S ... C120EX.asp

you may have to click around to get your locale, but the uk price is £130ish.

they are the size or 1 1/2 packets of ciggies so portabilitys not an issue..

personally i wouldnt be without mine for sure, tv out is getting better, well check em out man, they are real sweet

peace and love
