BPM/MIDI clock sync

Post by Ofaroqui1 »

What is the best way for me to get midi clock from a pioneer djm mixer? I know they have a USB on the back and a MIDI out. Can I run the midi out from the djm to a midi interface on my computer for midi clock?

Also, would i be able to use that midi input as an external audio input for effects?

The easiest is usually using the midi outport and a simple midi to usb adaptor. There are some great digital ways using midi yoke but straight up easiest for a club situation is the midi out port.

You can't get external audio from a midi source like that. You'll need to run audio into your resolume computer.

Midi adapters to usb work fine usually. Also Midi to a controller like a MPD akai controller works as a sort of adapter since it connects to the pc usb as well. Just needs to be set to external clock.
The easiest is just usb from the mixer to the computer. Super simple.

For audio its basically LR rca to 3.5mm jack adapter into the line in or mic on your computers aio.

So I do this with my DJ system a little different. Many DJ systems these days use some kind of software. If you do too then you can use this idea. I run an NS7iii controller with Virtual DJ. There is a company that makes Loop Back drivers found here http://nerds.de/

I use LoopBE1 for the Midi clock into Resolume for accurate BPM.
I use LoopBE Audio to internally route the sound into Resolume for Audio reactive effects.
