triggering clips.

Post by wie_wie »

First of all I want to say that I'm an amateur trying some new stuff out. trying to understand the concept of how video signals work and etc. But atm, I have to assemble a demo show. I have to recive smpte signal through Art-net, which I couldn't achieve this far. but that's not a concern. I can't understand if I'm able or not to work with smpte signal and put concrete graphics on concrete timecode and trigger them. Any help would be appriciated and please don't bash me for my stupid questions. I have deadline really soon. I have visuals prepared, I have timecoded song but can't make them work together. Thanks in advance

SMPTE is an audio signal not data like artnet. Sometimes searching smpte LTC helps. You can receive smpte to your board and send commands out via artnet or receive audio smpte via a sound card on the resolume system.

You need a SMPTE LTC audio file and then have resolume listen to that with a sound card.

Okey, here's what I did, I routed sound from itunes to resolume(I have smpte audio signal made for grandama lightning desk). gave smpte input from itunes to resolume and from dropdown menu change from BPM to smpte. smpte timer is working normally, but my graphics output is just blank even though i clicked the visual.

I'll try to explain myself better. I'm not going to live VJ with arena. all i have to do is make a project that will trigger concrete column in specified speed/effects. after specified time it changes to another and so on. I just don't see the way outside of live vj-ing. And main task is to be hooked up with grandma lightning desk from which I'm getting smpte signal, but that's not a problem I'll figure it out. At the moment I'm trying to improvise at home, with my own setup like I explained up. Thanks in advanced.

As far as my progress goes, I found that I probably need OSC sequencer with which I'll be able to automate my show. Any help would be appriciated, meanwhile I'll try to play on my own.

You should give Ravensc's Linear OSC Controller a try. It let's you trigger cues using SMPTE and MTC.

You can also read more about it in this post
