Flickering on AMD cards

Post by admiralperpetual »

any suggestions for dealing with the "flickering screen" when adding screens in advanced output? I have a system with 2x R9 390 cards and in general it CAN work great, but is very finicky. for example I'll have all 10 outputs hooked up but when I add 1 or 2 of them all the screens start flashing on and off. often if you don't stop it resolume itself will crash. swaping the outputs around will often fix the problem, but it's a major pain. no issues with nvidia cards but they max out at 4 outputs without using any splitters or anything like that...

tried searching for this issue and I did find one saying it was driver related, but I can't use the old driver they are mentioning because it is so old it does not support these cards.

thanks!

Re: Correct Settings for AMD cards

There are certain sets of AMD cards that cannot handle the way we span a single texture across the outputs of both cards. They seem to get confused on which card needs to render what, and will start swapping back and forth between what each card needs to render.

There is nothing we can do about this.

The only way you can work around it, is by creating an Eyefinity group that spans all monitors for you. The annoying thing is that this means that your desktop needs to be part of the Eyefinity group, which is less than ideal.
