ableton live / resolume tutorial offline

Post by vhs-c »

Hey guys,

the written tutorial to connect Ableton Live and Avenue is offline. It was supposed to be here

https://resolume.com/avenue/manual/tutorial_live.php

The video version doesn't answer my questions. Is there any chance to find the tutorial somewhere?

Thanks!

Is there any chance of a backup somewhere in a dusty corner? :)

If we had a backup, we would have put it back when it first went missing. I looked on the Wayback Machine to see if there was any text that could be salvaged, but it looks like the document wasn't cached. I'm afraid it's really gone for good.

What are you having problems with?

Thanks for getting back! I am a complete newbie in getting two machines to talk to each other. I have a sound guy sending me midi notes from his computer. But how is the hardware communication to be set up? Do we both need midi interfaces and connect them to each other? Is there an Ethernet option to communicate?

You don't need Midi interfaces. Just use a regular network cable.

Both Mac and PC can send Midi over network very easily. On the Mac, you can use the built-in Mdi Network driver for this: http://fox-gieg.com/tutorials/2007/midi-over-a-network/

On PC, there's an excellent clone of this Network driver: http://www.tobias-erichsen.de/software/rtpmidi.html. It works exactly the same way. You can also use them together to send messages between Mac and PC.

If you run Midi over a network, just make sure you run it with wires not on a wireless system.
