Hello,
I am currently cueing projections on Arena through Qlab and the show runs just fine if it is ran once, but once a midi cue has been triggered I am unable to restart the show in the same manner even if the clips have been returned to their original position. It will make the process much more efficient if I am able to re-fire midi cues over and over again as opposed to needing to shut down the software and rebooting the show to get the show to cue off of the midi cues again. Any suggestions?
Thank you!
Re-fire midi command to replay clip
Re: Re-fire midi command to replay clip
Can you describe your cueing setup in more details so that we can help you get it to work?
Re: Re-fire midi command to replay clip
I have a sound track that is cued through QLab, and each sound cue cues a Video cue with a pre-wait time. So for Sound Cue #1, I might have Video Cue #1 with a pre-wait of 5 s, and Video Cue #2 with a pre-wait for 9s.
Re: Re-fire midi command to replay clip
Have you considered using OSC instead of Midi?
Re: Re-fire midi command to replay clip
I can look into OSC, but I know we've been able to reset the show when this production was first premiered a few years ago. I am trying to resurrect the show now and am wondering if you have any specific leads as to possible ways to reset all clips to the locations saved upon the opening of the project.
Re: Re-fire midi command to replay clip
What do you mean when you say resetting all the clips to the locations saved up on the opening of the project? Do you move your clips in the deck during the show?
Re: Re-fire midi command to replay clip
At the top of the show all clips are set at 0.00 in a forward direction, and upon cueing them through MIDI or manually in Arena they play. After a clip has played, I can get it back to 0.00 (time of clip), but I cannot get it to play from the correct spot as it no longer responds to MIDI cues, and manually clicking through the clips does not work because none are in "play" anymore. They have all been paused. I guess I am trying to find a way to reset any clip at 0.00, but not have to pause it there for it to stay in place. I want to get it to 0.00 and then when I click the clip again it will play from 0.00.
Re: Re-fire midi command to replay clip
So to stop a clip, it sounds like you pause it using Midi, right? Then, you trigger another clip by launching it via Midi, correct?
Re: Re-fire midi command to replay clip
I only have a few cues to stop a clip. The majority of the show uses Midi to start a clip, lets the entire clip run, and then cues the next clip through Midi.
Re: Re-fire midi command to replay clip
When a clip has run out, it should still be in the same play mode assuming it's playing forward or backward. I guess I don't understand how your clips end up in pause mode.
Can you describe the process of how you clips end up in pause? To stop a clip on a particular layer, you should use the X to clear the layer.
Now let's say your clip is paused, all you have to do is add a Midi cue to change the direction from pause to play forward and you can launch the clip before, at the same time or after and it will play again. So if you are using Qlab, you can add an additional cue to your group and either use the "Start all children simultaneously" or "Start first child and go to next cue" mode. If you use the "Start first child and go to next cue" mode, make sure you have the first cue in auto-continue or auto-follow mode.
