FPS mystery drop Windows 10

Post by Txusillo »

Hello!

I have a bit of a problem with Resolume 5 regarding the FPS when an external output is connected. I'm running resolume on a Microsoft Surface Book (Cpu: i5 @2.40 GHz, 8 GB Ram, 256 SSD, Nvidia GPU http://amzn.to/2kLC4SW) and I'm working on a 5 layer composition running different 1920x1080 clips that had been rendered in DXV 3.0 Codec.

Usually, without adding a second output the composition was running at 40-50 fps and dropped to 20-30 when an additional output was connected. Today I tried mixing in the same composition, and the frames drop to 9-10 fps when an additional display is connected and Resolume is in full screen mode, even though there is no clip playing in any layer. Weirdly enough, if I change the display to be windowed, the fps go up to 20-25 fps.

Does anyone has experienced something like this before? I've read the manual to prepare my system to use Resolume, and I have followed most of the tips. Am I missing something? What else can I do to get better fps in a performance?

I have found the mystery: the scaling in the second display was dragging my fps, even though I was using it in fullscreen mode. Now I have a constant 25-30 fps in my second Display.

Although, another problem has risen: Screen Tearing (youtube clip: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hRotqRmE1XE). I have a Surface Book with an hybrid gpu setup: Geforce GPU no model specified for computing and Intel for scaling and everything else. Because of this, I can't really adjust the settings to force Vsync on one display or application, since the Nvidia control panel doesn't provide any options. Can anyone provide some insight on this problem?
