Personally, I feel that there is no "one solution" fits all, so I design each installation to maximize reliability and minimize latency and cost. I would say that I use HDbaseT and 3G-SDI about 95% of the time.

The cool thing about HDbaseT is that not only you can carry a 4K HDMI signal but you can also carry ethernet, RS-232, IR, and 8 channels of audioas well as power of her ethernet all that in one CAT5e or CAT6A cable. Also one thing to keep in mind is that if you're dealing with HD, HDbaseT will go 500 feet and possibly more.
