Hi all,
I'm a cheap student so I got myself the ligos indeo 5.11 codec, the free version.
But I don't see the difference with the $ 14,95 Indeo XP for Windows 5.2
compare these 2 versions:
Enhancements to Indeo video version 5.11 include the following :
- A new wavelet compression algorithm that greatly improves visual quality.
- Better compression at all levels of video quality than previous generation codecs.
- Playback performance enhancements for Pentium® II processor, including smoother, interpolated "zoom by 2" playback on processors with MMX technology.
- Progressive Download, a feature enabled in Microsoft DirectShow architecture and supported by Internet Explorer 4.0 (or higher) browser, which allows high-quality scalable video for the Internet and intranets.
- Indeo video version 5.11 supports encoding with Microsoft DirectShow.
and now the NEW! version that you'd better buy because of it's new highlights:
and now for the new and improved 5.2 version
Indeo XP for Windows
As an option to meet the needs of those Windows (all versions) users who require Indeo codecs, Ligos has created an enhanced bundle of the Indeo codecs called Indeo XP for Windows. Indeo XP includes Indeo Video version 5.2, as well as support for older Indeo-based applications. The features include the following:
-Optimization of the Indeo Video 5 scalability feature
-A wavelet compression algorithm that improves visual quality over previous versions of Indeo
-Better compression at all levels of video quality than previous generation codecs
Playback performance enhancements including smoother, interpolated "zoom by 2" playback
-Indeo XP also includes the legacy codecs Indeo Video 3.2, Indeo Video 4.5, and Indeo Audio 2.5
$14.95.
"so why buy"?
anyone has experienced better quality because of buying ligos indeo 5.2?
