Timelines per clips for triggering external softwares ??

Post by julienbayle »

Hi there, I'm totally new to Resolume.
I'd like to know if we can have sets of triggers embedded into clips' timeline for triggering external softwares each time the playing position of the considered clips reach specific position.

Basically:
- I have a clip playing
- When the clip reach the frame 3345, I want Resolume to send a trigger (OSC or whatever) to external software.

Can we do that with Resolume Avenue?
If yes, can we easily add specific timeline markers data to each clip ? Where are those "meta-data" stored ? Within the Resolume project ?

Thanks a lot for your answer.

resolume can send the raw playhead value via osc,
you could write a listener program that would react to the values, if your programs won't.

apparently, it can only send normalized value (I mean something between [0.,1.] where 0. is the first frame and 1. the latest)

No I didn't.
My main need is: I want to be able to have a specific set of markers for each clip.
The performer is firing a clip and that one triggers things "outside" of Resolume.

I can read that using OSC in Max or whatever else, that's okay.

Resolume doesn't have this cueing ability. It has lots of data but as stated before you need another system to listen and trigger.

Hi and thanks for your answer.
Coupling Resolume with something else outside could be interesting but the amount/flow of OSC is too big.
Indeed, we cannot choose only specific messages in Resolume.

Is there a reason the triggers need to come from Resolume?

It sounds like the answer to your problem lies in having another application trigger your external cues and the Resolume clips.

This is not about triggering resolume clips, but playing clips in resolume and having specific markers in the timeline of clips that can triggers things outside of resolume.
I'll end that by building that part in Max maybe, but just wanted to figure out if resolume would have got that natively.

I know this isnt what youre looking for but it may solve an issue of your's in the future. I use IR OSC SA quite a bit to automate things in resolume. Off the top of my head I cant remember if you are able to change the port.
