Dual camera live feed in Arena

Post by xdjxklusivex »

Next weekend I will be running a dual camera live feed using a Decklink Duo 2 card. Any pointers from people who have already done this?

I was thinking of putting each camera on its own layer and mapping it as A/B to use my crossfader on the apc40. Any better ideas?

That should work just fine.

I do a 4 layer setup.
1 and 2 are my camera's.
3 is an alpha overlay layer.
4 is a full graphic/blackout layer.
I use 4 faders in this setup.

I am pretty new to this so I need to build my content and figure out the best plan of attack on how many layers to use and what not.

A lot of the stuff we do is weddings so first half is always nice formal stuff and then when our dj takes over the visuals get a little more intense haha.

Make sure you "Ignore Column Trigger" unless you want to copy the capture clips in every column of your deck so that you don't accidentally turn your cams off.

The cross fader is a good place to start but will override whatever is on the UI so you can end up with unexpected skips if you use both. I personally like to use an endless knob (Device Control 8) so that I can use both the APC40 and the UI. I also add two triggers for A & B (left and right arrows below the device control 7 & 8) so that you can take an automatic fade between inputs.

You might also want to set two triggers for you camera inputs right below (Midi Overdub & Metronome) just in case you release your inputs by accidents. If you activate Midi Output, these two keys will light up green when the clips are triggered so you'll know they're on!
