PAR LED not receiving RGB data through DMX

Post by NDY »

Hi,

My aim is to operate 2 universes of DMX comprised of 11 Big Deeper LP005 PAR LEDs and 2 575W moving heads.
I am running Resolume Arena 5.0 on a MacBook Pro OS 10.10.3. To achieve my goal I created a Lumiverse and created the two kind of fixtures that I will be using. For the moving lights I believe I will be using a patch that I haven't tried yet, but my current concern is about the PAR LEDs.

First of all I am using an ultraDMX2 Pro from DMXking to convert the Ethernet signal to DMX.
I read in the manual that Resolume should recognize the device right away when choosing ArtNet in DMX preferences. However, this is not happening and Resolume only recognizes the device as USB (even though the device's main feature is Ethernet to DMX). So, first question, how can I make it work through Ethernet?

Second thing is, when using the DMX device as USB it recognizes the Lumiverse and sends signal to the PAR LEDs, however, it seems that the signal it sends is read by the lights as channels and not RGB, since the lights react to the mapped pixels but don't display the same colors as the video. Instead, the lights do different things that they usually do in particular channels, such as change colors, strobe, change opacity, etc.

How can I solve this and get the lights to reproduce both the lightness and color of the video mapped in the Lumiverse?

Is it possible in the first place? or does the Lumiverse only work with Led strips and panels?

Thanks in advance!

When your DMXKing box is on the same network and sends a proper Artpoll reply, Resolume should pick it up. If that's somehow not the case, you can always fill out the box's IP address and subnet/universe settings manually.

It sounds like the fixture you've created is not right for the light. If your light has more than basic color channels, you will need to create these in your fixture as well: https://resolume.com/manual/en/r5/fixtu ... parameters

At first update your Resolume to the latest Version. There were many bug fixes after 5.0.

Are you powering your DMX device via the USB port from the computer directly? If so, once you're configured the device, try using an external USB power adapter.
