Questions about the new Master, Audio and Video sliders and some other stuff

Post by dirtyjohn_lv »

Glad that native Datapath support has been added, AJA is amazing too. Being able to use the system fonts for new text animator is awesome too!

In the composition settings for the quality dropdown (normal or high), is this NDI related?

For the transport faders what does M (master?) represent now? Is it supposed to still control both the audio and video faders (because it doesn't right now). Mousing over for "help" also doesn't work here.

Not sure I like the way the sliders change colors for color pickings

It doesn't make the A & V opacity sliders move but it does change them proportionally as a sub-grandmaster for each layer.

So if both your A & V are set up at 100% and you bring the M to 50% both will be at 50% but if your V is at 50% then the actual V opacity will now be at 25%. Then if in addition, you use the comp Master and bring it down to 50%, your actual V opacity would be at 12.5%/

Makes sense! Thanks Oaktown

Maybe changing these names to actual grand/sub or something similar would help confusion

The Reveal effect shifts clips a few pixels up, if you play with the opacity of Reveal you can see it.

When I see that M I said: Hey! Now I can use a logo with a timeswitcher or jitterbug, and adjust his main opacity for a subtle effect (0-100 dismised to 0-20, or so). But missed that M is still linked to and modify the transition speed.

Layer Master slider does not modify the transition speed or time.
I don't recall the AV slider doing such thing in resolume 5 either.
Or am I misunderstanding something?

Oh, you mean the blend flashing timing, not the clip transition.
Yeah, that's the same as if you'd pull the V fader.
Why don't you put this logo layer into a group and dim the group's master to 20 %

The blend! hahaha, I do my best with english, but still failling.
Sure, love groups and all the workaround we can take now.
Just was trying to share my impression first time I see those M sliders, not a complain.

In 6, you can use the clip's opacity to do a pre-blend fade.
