Crossfader transition style

Post by rafaeldk »

Hello everyone!

First of all, let me say that I'm preeeetty happy migrating from GrandVJ to Resolume. I work with video projections on theather plays and just starting the VJing world either... GrandVJ was such a pain in the a** as that is sooo limitaded.
I've devoured Resolume and it's manual since I bough my first Macbook Pro (3 months ago) and have a lot of critics, of the good and bad points. But for now I just don't have the time and have a simple question:

Can I select wich kind of transition the Crossfader is applying between deck A and B?

I use a brand logo that come across the whole play on DECK B and others images and audios on Deck A. Sometimes, there's LOGO + AUDIO on DECK A and it seems to be much lighter when crossfader is on the center. It would be good if I could select another time of transition, like Lighten or Difference, for example...

Tomorrow I have another session of this play and would be great if I could test this for tomorrow!
Thanks, community!

Rafael, is pretty straight foward to me.
Just try this:
Layer 2 - A - RotY transition - Slider on top (full opactity, 100% you call it).
Layer 1 - B - Any transition - Slider on top

You crossfade between A & B and will get an Y rotation transition.

In the same logic, if crossfader is at center and your top layer have the default Add transition,
your image will be 'lighter' because that's the expected behaviour! :)

Check out Resolume 6,
the crossfader has now it's own blending mode, maybe that solves this for you.
you can find the setting in the Composition panel.
Software developer, Sound Engineer,
Control Your show with ”Enter” - multiple Resolume servers at once - SMPTE/MTC column launch

francoe,

thank you very much for your tip! It has worked as I wanted. I'd probably tried this before, but with a too similar to Add transition and didn't notice the difference. I'm still new to Resolume (using since January) and don't know yet Transitions/Effects names and functions.

ravensc,

I'm discovering that exist a Resolume 6 just now! And that's a great news this implement. I'll get into it!

Much thanks, ppl!
