AKAI APC40 MKII Color feedback with Resolume

Post by VJ Psymeta »

Hello,
And thanks for reading. Im new to this piece of hardware and Resolume 6. I don't see any detailed tutorials available on how to set up the color feedback for the clear buttons on the AKAI APC40 MKII. Anyone have experience or an idea how to get this working..??

In the new Resolume 6 demo video on the front page of the website at 0:35 seconds it says "change the colors of your midi controller".... OK. How? Its driving me crazy!!!

Thanks!

Jonathan

When you map your midi notes to the buttons, you can see the Midi out velocity part of the Shortcut panel.
You can choose the Velocity (color) for the selected status, that should be sent out.
You need to have Midi output enabled in preferences to your midi controller of course.

Now, the Layer Clear buttons do not have a state (also not internally in resolume), they perform a single action so they don't stay pushed, so the feedback would only be a flash anyways. Selecting the On velocity for these stateless buttons, should set a color on your controller when you have pushed it once, or open a composition for example.
The Layer Bypass buttons have 2 states for example, so they will follow the button's actual state.
Clip slots have 5 states, for which you can assign a specific Velocity.

Thank you for the insight. I guess I need to find the controllers preferences..!
I will give it a shot asap and report back. I can believe there isn't a video tutorial online yet for this.
I may have to post one if I can figure it out. Thanks again! :D

Hey thanks this was a big help. It took me a while to realize that the preferences for the APC40 controller were to be accessed through the Resolume software (Arena > Preferences > MIDI) I for some reason was under the assumption it was through a hardware app. Duh, everything seems to be working now with pretty colors! :geek:

Looking forward to seeing your tutorial video! In the meantime, looks like the link in your signature is broken.
