If Advanced Output is not active (ie Output is Disabled, Fullscreen or Windowed) then all the slices in the Slice Transform effect show up red and the effect doesn't work.
This seems unnecessarily restrictive.
I note that slices (including whole devices) disabled in the Advanced Output window still work with the Slice Transform effect.

Re: Slice Transform effect disabled when Advanced Output not active | v6 Beta 3
I'm assuming when you disable ASS you get performance increases, since that whole render and processing end is disabled.
It actually makes sense to me, instead of hitting disable I'd just use virtual devices. What does everyone else think?
I always have advanced output on so I never noticed till you pointed this out.

Nice ASS.
Ahem.
When Advanced Output is not active, the slice definitions still exist.

Re: Slice Transform effect disabled when Advanced Output not active | v6 Beta 3
When you disable the Advanced Output, the entire memory is purged and as far as Resolume is concerned those slices effectively no longer exist. This is reflected in the Slice Transform effect.
Re: Slice Transform effect disabled when Advanced Output not active | v6 Beta 3
Does Chaser also have this problem?
Re: Slice Transform effect disabled when Advanced Output not active | v6 Beta 3
I don't use chaser because of my own setup. But isn't Chaser a separate program that loads that info? I assumed Chaser would be your advanced output equivalent. I also thought chaser is built around parsing xml data where as the effect would be probably grabbing textures which would need the advanced output to work.subpixel wrote:Does Chaser also have this problem?
I'm really asking these questions so other people can fill in the gaps.

Re: Slice Transform effect disabled when Advanced Output not active | v6 Beta 3
Chaser can't access the internal Resolume state, so it just gets vertex data by parsing various xml files. It's also why you need to save your Advanced setup before Chaser picks it up, while Slice Transform follows immediately.
Re: Slice Transform effect disabled when Advanced Output not active | v6 Beta 3
How much memory are we talking about for the slice information?
The Slice Transform effect is one of the few things available to do spatial compositing in Resolume. It might be nice to allow it even when not using Advanced Output for the actual output process.

Re: Slice Transform effect disabled when Advanced Output not active | v6 Beta 3
I'd like to see a show of hands for people who don't use advanced output for shows. It's actually been years since I haven't used it. I feel like your asking for the craziest code rewrites for the most niche thing.subpixel wrote:How much memory are we talking about for the slice information?

Subpixel, what's the point of not use the advanced output? I can't imagine the reason or scenario.
