Link a parameter to a different layer/group's Dashboard Link

Post by Andrew »

In the recent 6.0.2 update, I noticed y'all fixed an "issue" that was actually rather convenient for me. I'm assuming it's this particular fix:

10115 Preset with Dashboard Link not functioning properly when putting it on the Composition, Layer & Group.

Here is what I had been doing before this update: I had effects that I put on multiple Layers (that I couldn't put on the group for a particular reason). I already had run out of Dashboard Links on these layers to use. I then was able to use the "preset bug" to link the parameters of these effects to their Group's Dashboard Links.

This was useful because A: I needed more Dashboard Links. B: It made mapping my midi controller much quicker, as I only had to map my controller to one Dashboard Link, instead of multiple effect parameters across multiple Layers. C: I can select that Group and look at the levels of my Dashboard Link for feedback on the state of those effects.

It'd be lovely if we could link parameters "across" the application to different Dashboard Links. It makes mapping a midi controller much more pleasant when you don't have to repeat a process so many times. Additionally, it would just be nicer in general if we could set a higher number of Dashboard Links to work with.

Thanks,
Andrew

Sorry that you got used to what we consider a bug :)

We have some ideas for more centralized control, but this is all drawing board stage at the moment. For now, if you want so much control at the layer level, you're going to have to dig in and assign shortcuts to the individual params.
