ELC dmxLAN buddy

Post by 4youreye »

does anyone know how to bring the ELC dmxLAN buddy to work with arena 6.0.3
i use artnet 2.20.0.1 for the ethernet out and 2.20.0.2 for the device ip of the buddy. subnet 255.0.0.0
the buddy works and is sending dmx. it can be tested with the remote of the buddy over the browser
but it seems that arena is not communicating with the buddy
in the lanDMX app you can see both and the status is green, as soon i play content the status of arena goes to red.
???

Have you confirmed you have the correct adapter selected in the DMX preferences panel in the preferences menu?

Not that it matters, but why the 2.20.0.2 rather than 2.0.0.2?

i used. 2.0.0.2 also, but it doesnt work. when using the buddy in madmapper everything works good. it must be a communication thing between arena and the buddy.

Unlikely. If it's a simple artnet receiver and you have the correct adapter selected in Resolume, there should be no issue with communication. Can you ping the device on your computer?

yes, i can ping it. i can also control it with this elc remote panel via the browser and on the same laptop madmapper is working with the ELC buddy and the LED stripes.
i address the buddy correct in arena, i see dmx parameter changing in arena but then there must be something between arena and the ELC buddy.
when the buddy receives dmx input a red status led is on. i can check this with the elc remote and madmapper.
when arena is sending dmx the status LED is off so this means to me: the buddy is receiving nothing.

I'm assuming you're using a private custom IP address, correct? So, my question is why are you using a 255.0.0.0 subnet mask? Isn't your computer part of a greater network with a different subnet mask? Do you have a direct connection between your computer and your ELC dmxLAN buddy?

Have you tried with a more traditional Class C private IP/Subnet setup such as 192.168.1/24 (where the 24 indicates a 255.255.255.0 which gives you 256 IPs)?

i got this parameters from a light operator for using artnet.
and on the same laptop the ELC buddy works fine with other applications. only the connection to arena seems not to work.
