hey. i'm going to buy a new pc (pIV1.6ghz, 256mb ram, 100gb hd, WinXPHome)

and i want to know which card should i buy for dual head support....

i checked out some and narrowed my selection to two. the radeon all-in-one wonder 8500 and the g450eTV

i wanted to know if anyone has used any of these cards. and if the capture feature can be used in resolume as a camera input. (for any of the two cards)

i really like the features on the matrox card, like dvdmax and dualhead zoom ect. that others dont have, i want to know if the eTV capture is better than the Wonder card. also i want to know if there are compatibility problems with the AGP port.

in their webistes i saw the ATI offers support for direct X 8, but i saw none of this in the matrox card website. I know resolume works with direct X so i suspect it is important... will it speed it up or not???? and does de eTV have DX8 suport and it doesn say? (cuz the g450 (non eTV) has it, so i think they are made from the same base and with capture added)

well. please help me choose a card...

by the way firewire is not that important..... but i really like the ATI RF remote.

hi stark

a quick reply - i have a matrox g450eTV - i think its great - i use indeo avi's and it works great at 320x240 - especially the beta2 version.
Currently the video input Doesn't work - but i think others have had it working??
the dualhead zoom is fantastic if you use apps other than resolume.
however - i think the ATI does have better overall performance - maybe you could get one on trial??

later

there is a MASSIVE speed difference between the Matrox 450 and the radeon where the Radeon is much much faster ... we have a Herculez Radeon 8500 Pro with 128 Mb RAM and a Matrox 450 here and the zoom and DVDmax is nice but it does not live up to the speed of the Radeon ...
