Stingy Sphere Seam with Seamless textures

Post by VJ_io »

There's a strange textured seam in Stingy Sphere that I don't believe should be showing up. I've attached an example file. Can anyone tell me what's up with this, and if there's a solution?

It's a rectangle shaped texture that has to fit on a sphere, so it won't be seamless on the back side.
If you keep the rotations at default you shouldn't see the texture edges (if your clip doesn't have alpha)

I could have used a far better example, my bad. Here's another example made with 1:1 aspect ratio lines. The texture would work absolutely seamlessly, but if you zoom in close, there's a line down the center that applies the texture at a different aspect ratio.
I've attached an image and another example project file using a 1:1 ratio lines.
If the texture doesn't line up, I get that there should be a visible seam from the patterns not matching. However, there's a white/black seam regardless in many textures.

Also attached, is a texture generated in Resolume first used with stingy sphere that has a seam, and then that exact same texture screenshoted and used with CC sphere in After Effects, showing no seam.

I see, it seems the source texture is put into the line where you see the jaggyness.
I'll create a ticket.

Hey VJ_io, can you post a short video of what your setup looks like when you run the comp. I’m just curious about the visuals.

Oh, are you curious about the sort of content I'm making with Stingy Sphere? I can do that, sure.

Quick recordings. I just went through and selected the ones I remember used Stingy Sphere. Clicked on one that was pretty much just lines on accident towards the end of the second one.

Thanks VJ_io. Nice stuff but I was more interested in seeing what the result looked like in real life.
