I have a Dell Precision 5510 with an Nvidia Quadro M 1000m. When I use the built-in HDMI output, rendering happens on the GPU and output works properly. When I add my Thunderbolt 3 based Dell WD15 dock and use any of it's outputs, rendering happens on the GPU and output works properly.
When I try to do both at the same time, I run into trouble. I'm trying to use the built-in HDMI output plus the HDMI output of the dock. I was able to do this in Res5 without problem. In Res 6, however, it's very unstable. Sometimes res will only output to one or the other, but not both at the same time. Sometimes is works. Sometimes it works for a bit and then randomly stops.
I have tried numerous combinations of the order I plug things in. I have tried numerous orders of assigning outputs to a screen. I have various orders of switching from virtual output to a given HDMI output.
I can't really find any consistency, other than it doesn't work most of the time. Any suggestions? I'm assuming it's not a hardware or driver issue given that it works properly in Res 5.
Problems with Multiple Outputs
Re: Problems with Multiple Outputs
Hey RickW
It seems that the dock is some kind of splitter/extender. Resolume doesn't natively support such things so it can be either a hit or miss. Resolume 6 has been completely rewritten.
I notice that the Thunderbolt 3 based Dell WD15 dock doesn't have great reviews either.
Seems you did some extensive testing, similarity like I would do it. We can only really solve problems if there is a clear pattern regarding the issue. I would suggest keep on testing and see if you can find a pattern, how little it might be.
Could you please send us the log file? Maybe the log file will share something that might be of interest.
Go to Preferences --> Feedback --> View Log ---> Save log on your desktop ---> Attach the log to one of your post.
While you are at it; I would suggest passing along the log file of Resolume 5 as well.

Hahaha, I was pointing at the "Thunderbolt 3 based Dell WD15 dock" XDJoris wrote:Coming from someone on Team Resolume tooResolume 6 has been completely rewritten; I notice that it doesn't have great reviews either
Stealth fix, nobody saw it

Re: Problems with Multiple Outputs
I'm assuming the dock uses DisplayPort Multi-Stream Transport technology which in my opinion is inherently glitchy for media server applications.
Also as a note, the Dell Business Dock - WD15 seems to USB-C not Thunderbolt 3. They do share the same connectors and have some similar features but are in essence quite different especially when it comes to speed (10 vs 40Gbps)! https://thunderbolttechnology.net/blog/ ... nderbolt-3

Re: Problems with Multiple Outputs
Same issue on Arena 6 - Clevo P775DM3-G Chassi
Intel x64 - i7-7700K
NVidia GTX 1080
I have 2x Displayport outputs and 1 HDMI.
When any display is plugged into the display port outputs, the HDMI output is no longer usable in resolume.
Windows correctly detects all 3 display outputs.
In fact when the display port is used, the HDMI port no longer works in resolume even if specifically selected as a single output.
