Question about a 7800x1040 show

Post by crv74 »

Hi folks,

i have a show where the design it's 7800x1040 pixels in 3 LED screens, 2 curved and one "main" central. I've never done that size before and i have a couple of questions.

The design is like this: 2600+2600+2600 = 7800

My idea is to map one 4K HDMI out for 2 screens and the second HDMI can be 4K or 3680x1080 either for the central one.

I'm using a GTX 1080Ti on a custom media server (i7 6600K, 32Gb Ram, SSD Raid 0, etc) and my question is if will i be able to outoput that amount of pixels + the control monitor (that will be fullHD).

Any advices and ideas are welcome, and thanks in advance.

I'm no expert nor have I done anything past HD but I BELIEVE you will need a processor that can pull 4k res from your gpu and one for each 'set' of screens. I think a datapath can do that if the processor can not. The gpu should handle it as my 1070 does my 3x 4k monitors at home with no issue.

Hope that helps, if i'm wrong, sorry!

Maybe i explained it wrong, but i already made the map for this show on 2x 4K outs, so if your 1070 does 3x 4K, my 1080Ti will be the same or better doing 2x 4K + 1 FullHD, if my calculations don't fail.

But thanks for the note!

The processor you are connecting to supports 4k input though? That is where I think the limitation will be. For example the Novastar VX4S we use only supports max input of 1920x1200 so the computer detects it as a 1920x1080 display. If i wanted to run a larger screen I would need a MCTRL4K or a datapath with multiple vx4s.

Yes, i'm connecting to an Ascender 32 to the HDMI 4K input ports.

From what I know it sounds like it should work just fine! The card has enough firepower so that shouldnt be a problem.

They reducesd the total pixels to 7488, but going through an E2.

I tested with a 2x 4K monitors and goes smooth.

I'll post some photos of the final setup next week.

Thanks for the tips!
