Slice Question
What is the maximum number of slices that are supported by Resolume Arena 6?
Re: Slice Question
Resolume doesn't have a limit on how many slices you can create.
How many do you need?

So yeah, the question is really how many do you need, and do you have a powerful enough computer to handle that?

Re: Slice Question
I looked it up, and actually, that number is incorrect. On a computer with infinite RAM and infinite processing power, the theoretical limit is 1152921504606846975 slices.
That number means if you make a slice every second, you'll run out of slices after 36558 million years.

Re: Slice Question
If you'd make slices for each person alive on earth right now, each person would get 151 million slices.
Re: Slice Question
If you'd get a penny for every slice, you can buy the Star Wars franchise from Disney, 2.5 million times.

Re: Slice Question
Joris.
I think the real question is how many you can create without compromising the speed and the smoothness of playback. even after using Resolume for the last 5 years, I too have the same doubt whether if i make more slice will it effect the smooth playback on a live show or the chances of crashing the software.

Re: Slice Question
Of course, I understand that. There is just no way we can answer that question with a number.
Adding more slices of course affects performance, but how and how much depends on the GPU, the driver of the GPU, the CPU, the RAM, the size of the composition, the size of the content, the codec of the content, the actual pixels in the content, the frame rate of the content, the amount of displays, the refresh rate of the displays, the amount of layers, the amount of effects, the input size of the slice, the output size of the slice and that's just what I can think of at the top of my head.

Re: Slice Question
The point is that Resolume will never limit you. Your only limit is how much performance you can squeeze out of your computer.
