Glitch with SMPTE

Post by NathanHamblin »

I have a SMPTE Audio file coming out of one of my tracks in Ableton going analog into a MOTU interface into my Arena Machine. The SMPTE file is 24fps, the timecode setting in arena is set to 24fps. My video files are 24fps and rendered in DXV. When timecode triggers them they trigger however they glitch a lot. They kind of slightly stutter. I'm not sure how to resolve this, I've tried different timecode frame rates, different video files, different timecode sources, changing the buffer size. And the video files play perfectly without timecode its just when they're playing with timecode

Using a 2013 MacPro
3x 1080p Outputs
Arena 6

Thanks for any help!

Check the signal levels in your sound card input and output.

Also make sure you set the SMPTE clip's warp mode in Ableton to re-pitch to avoid signal degradation.

I had a lot of issues with motu on PC. You need to work with the buffer and a lot of other settings. SMPTE with my motu 828mk3 wasn’t plug and play. Altho mac I heard was a lot better.
