Crossfade between clips on the SAME layer. How?

I work only with one layer. I add few clips to the column.
My aim is automatically play them one after another (or random, nevermind).

I want following behavior:
I want LAST 2 seconds of CURRENT playing clip fade "from clip color to black", and FIRST 2 seconds of NEXT clip fade "from black to color".

It's not very important fade to black\white or multiply, e.t.c. I want to apply ANY effect, which SMOOTHLY change Clip1 to Clip2.

I tried layer option "transition", but effect applying only to the start of NEXT clip. I mean effect not affect last 2 seconds of current clip.

How to solve it?
