News room - Videowall

Post by nugas »

Hi!

I just discovered about resolume and it's pretty advance stuff. What I would like to do is connect 3x2 (=6) lcd tvs and make one big videowall for news room.

What hardware is required for this? I'm able to find only 4 output HDMI Switcher in the market. So can it work if I buy 2 4-output HDMI switcher ? Or do I have to use multiple GPU ? Or buy some other expensive devices ??

Thank you,

2 Datapath FX4 and a good GPU (Nvidia 1080 recommended) will tackles that no problems.

If you’ve got no other outputs besides the UI, you could get away with 1 FX4 and two direct outputs from the GPU but you might experience some sync issues.

Thank you Oaktown for your quick reply, but seems like it's an expensive solution for me if I am to buy 2 datapaths cards.

What is the math behind this output? Can extra HDMI be counted as 1 output and also 1 Display Port be also count as 1 output ?? Can DVI also be counted as 1 output if I use DVI to HDMI extension ??

A. What if I already have 2 GPUs (970 gtx). ?? Can I have 6 screen outputs then ? if not how many outputs can I have in this case?

B. I think I saw a video in youtube that uses 1 single R9 270 with few MST hubs but I'm not sure. Can this work too for 6 screen output?

BTW, I don't intend to add up the resolution ie. 6 x (1920x1080) = 11520x6840. It can just split 1920x1080 across all 6 tv screens. Can it be done ? If yes, will there still be frame sync problems since we are dealing with 2k video only ?

Also according to http://docplayer.net/54671863-I-want-to ... tputs.html
it says I can get 6 otuputs with "Single computer with 2xGTX 1080", What about 2xGTX970 ?

Sorry for shooting so many questions. I just discovered this technology. I don't know where I've been this for so many years :(

You can read this first :

You may find some anwsers.

2 970 GTX cards will give you a maximum of 8 outputs (4 max ) per card) so depending on content you should be OK. You may have sync issues between the cards but Resolume gives you the ability to adjust the delay up to 100ms in the advanced ouptut.
B. I think I saw a video in youtube that uses 1 single R9 270 with few MST hubs but I'm not sure. Can this work too for 6 screen output?
AMD cards such as the R9 270 support 6 outputs maximum regardless of how many MST hubs you use so you'd be short 1 output for your setup.
BTW, I don't intend to add up the resolution ie. 6 x (1920x1080) = 11520x6840. It can just split 1920x1080 across all 6 tv screens. Can it be done ?
1920x1080 will split nicely in 4 HD screens not 6 so why do you want to use 6? If you do you will either need to stretch or crop your content to match teh 6 displays.
If yes, will there still be frame sync problems since we are dealing with 2k video only ?
The sync issue will not be a result of the resolution. It will be a result of the two cards not being synced together.
