Upgrades needed - but where first??

Post by techiejay »

Hi All,

Running Arena 6 on the following machine:

Win 10 Pro 64bit
Intel i5-3470 @ 3.2Ghz
8GB RAM
Onboard Intel HD 2500 Graphics
BMD Decklink Mini Recorder (input from ATEM)
BMD Decklink SDI (output)
500GB SATA HDD (not SSD)

Have been using Arena with great results for graphics playback, but would like to delve a bit more into IMAG, scaling and mapping when we work with larger LED screens (for example inserting content as a frame around the SDI input etc)

Obviously, the machine needs an upgrade - running a layer of SDI input plus a layer of still image underneath drops us down to around 30FPS. And the system only runs at 45FPS with absolutely no active layers.

I'd be interested to find out what you think I should start with - obviously I'm already using this machine for events so want to do this gradually, but what would give me the biggest boost out of the gate - SSD? RAM? dedicated graphics card?

Any advice is very gratefully received! :-)

Hi did you managed to get a new graphics card for your system?

Would like to know which card did you get and what kind of fps increment did you get from just adding a graphics card to your system
