questions about resolution formats

Post by danklim »

Hi, i have a couple questions about resolution formats in Resolume Avenue, Could you please help?

1) I have two Logitech Brio 4k cameras. I usually set the ‘format’ parameter for the webcam source to the 4096x2160 resolution so that i could take full advantage of the zooming capabilities and picture clarity. I usually made the scale smaller (so the image would fit on the canvas) and then sent the video to OBS via syphon, where I think that the video outputs to standard HD. I have also have frequently experienced issues with lag/latency and am wondering if this could be a cause. Does using the 4k resolution format take up more resources and more likley to cause more lag than small resolution formats (even though I am not ‘recording’ or anything in 4k)?

2) I notice that the ‘format’ parameter for my webcam video source doesn’t show 1920x1080 at 30fps and not sure why. It does show it at 60 fps though. I’m thinking that 60fps takes up twice as much resources and more likely to cause latency than the 30 fps, right? If so, is there any way to use this resolution at 30 fps instead? Or is this just an unchangeable camera setting? It would be really helpful if i could, because I am trying to save CPU resources, but the next lowest format (1600x896) is very blurry!

Thanks!

Your camera probably sends 1080i60 or 1080i59.94 which would be the same bandwidth as 1080p30 or 1080p29.97.
