Soft Blend stopped working

Post by Dirk67 »

A few days ago I started stetting up two projectors and used soft edge to blend both images seamlessly together. Over the last couple of days I have loaded content into Resolume, connected it to a Midi trigger via Ableton and everything seemed fine. But now when I set up the two projectors the soft edge feature doesn't blend. I have three outputs. The first one is my laptop screen. The next two are the two projectors. Each one contains only one slice, both overlapping. I can enable soft edge on projector 1 and I even get controls. But moving the sliders doesn't show any difference. On projector 2 I can enable soft edge as well but the controls don't show up (Do they automatically show when soft edge is enabled or is there a hidden click to make those visible?). Overall both slices don't show any difference in the overlapping area, no matter if soft edge is on or not. A day ago I did some setting changes on the projectors but that shouldn't have any impact, or not? Any thoughts? Thank you. D!RK

I'm not seeing anything weird with soft edge on 6.0.10, would you mind posting you're advanced output file here?

It took me a bit to get access to my laptop again. Here are two screenshots. One of the slice 1 and one of the slice 2 settings. Overall I get a nice, wide projection with a 20% overlap and I can align the images via point adjustment in the output window. But the soft edge feature doesn't kick in. My hunch is that my mistake may be that I feed both slices directly to different displays. I have seen people setting up a virtual display with both slices living right underneath. I just don't know how I would then feed those to different outputs. Do slices have to be under one display to allow for soft edge? Any thoughts? Thank you. D!RK

Any last recommendations on the setup that I posted? Really would like to get that tool to work. Thank you.

Your right slice is ever so slightly rotated. Unfortunately, the math for blending rotated slices is too complicated for us, so blending is disabled on slices with a rotation other than 0 degrees.

That's why. I would have never figured this out. But it makes sense. Would be cool if it would give you a window that tells you why a feature got disabled. Thank you so much for responding. Saved my day. D!RK
