Here is something that has always baffled me and recently jumped up again when using R6 in a studio film shoot.
Why do internal generators (Solids, gradients, etc) look so bad on camera when fading in/out? For example, if you fade up a solid colour from black, it looks fine to the eye but on camera, it always gives some nasty banding and artifacts. Same thing happens if automating something like a gradient that fades between colours or transparent. Does not seem to be tied to any particular refresh rate ot camera setting as it is something we encounter on both projection and LED walls, photo and video cameras.
Interestingly enough, crossfading from an image or video of that same solid color to an image or video of black does not seem to give the same nasty artifacts.
My only work around is to bake in actual fades to/from black if using resolume in an on-camera scenario.
Any insight into this or how to avoid it?

Re: Generators/Fades look bad on camera
Could you send us a recording of what your camera sees?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Have you tried using 16 bit?anthonydiehl wrote: Tue Aug 28, 2018 22:39 Here is something that has always baffled me and recently jumped up again when using R6 in a studio film shoot.
