Beginner question... turning a clip in B&W?

Post by jess »

Hi all! How can I turn a clip in B&W, am I am forced to prepare this transformation in After Effects, or is there a way to do it directly in Resolume?
Thanks!

Hi Frederic! Thank you very much for your help, I had put the effect in the case above so it was not totally becoming B&W ! I was not imagining it was making a difference to put it in a case above or directly inside. I will follow you on Vimeo, I think your videos will help me a lot! :)

You're welcome :D

The reason it didn't work as expected when you put the effect in the clip above is because the default opacity of any layer above layer 1 is 50% so you were looking at the B&W clip at 50% on top of the color clip in Add blend mode. But if you change the opacity of that layer to 100% then you would not see the color clip at all and it would be B&W similar to the result you get in my video.

Also please note that an FX clip can be taking its input from All layers below or any layer in the deck whether they are above or below.
