Ok there is a new shortcut system in Resolume 6. I went through manual on differences between SELECTED LAYER, THIS LAYER and POSITION but it seems I can't get it work the way it was working in Resolume 5 where certain things were set up to either LAYER FOCUS or DECK FOCUS.
In version 5 I had a different set of effects on LAYER 1 and a different set of effects on LAYER 2. They were all controlled by the the same knobs on my midi controller depending on which layer was active. Pretty straight forward
It doesn't work this way in Resolume 6 when I use SELECTED LAYER option what I thought is kinda like layer focus.
When I checked the SHORTCUT WINDOW when mapping an effect on a layer it maps the key to "Composition Selectedlayer Video Effects Colorize Opacity". The shortcut contains the name of the effect and then it causes a problem if a LAYER2 has an effect with a different name.
How can I solve this ?
Thanks!!
SHORTCUTS ISSUE - Layer Focus, Deck Focus in Resolume6?
Re: SHORTCUTS ISSUE - Layer Focus, Deck Focus in Resolume6?
For effects on Layer focus, Resolume 5 used a combination of Selected Layer (for the layer) and By Position (for the effect). When switching to Deck focus, it would be By Position for both.
I loved this feature, but it was one of the most complained about things on Res 5. It had a tendency to get confusing when changing the order of the effects.
So on 6, we went with an assignable target for the layer and a fixed target of By Name for the effect. So the layer target can still be changed, but it's fixed for the effect itself.
It's not unthinkable we might eventually introduce a second level of abstraction to also let you choose the effect target, but that also feels like it might confuse users even more than before.
For now, assigning shortcuts to the dashboard dials, and assigning different effects to the dial is a great alternative.

Re: SHORTCUTS ISSUE - Layer Focus, Deck Focus in Resolume6?
Hey Joris,
I have the same problem like Tomi Ka. But I am new to Resolume. Can you just tell a little bit more in detail how to fix this issue?
Best regards
Tobias

If you're new to Resolume, I doubt you're having the same problem. But I've answered to your other thread: viewtopic.php?f=12&t=17858&p=72635#p72635
Re: SHORTCUTS ISSUE - Layer Focus, Deck Focus in Resolume6?
hello, i'm having a similar issue with MIDI shortcuts in Avenue 6, and i hope somebody can help!
Years ago I had set up extensive MIDI mapped transport controls in Avenue version 3 (and also early releases of version 4), which allowed me to speed up or slow down (pitch) different clips in a layer using a designated knob on the NanoKontrol2... as well as scroll through (scrub) using a 2nd knob.... per layer. I would use another pair of knobs on the 2nd layer and 3rd layer. This worked amazingly, and without the takeover, meaning that if i sped up clip 1 to 2x, then clicked on clip 2 and slowed it down to 60%, i could go back to clip 1 and it'd still be at 2x. I found this set-up tremendously useful for my purposes, and seemingly unique to Resolume.
When i upgraded to version 6, i knew i would have a lot of re-mapping to do, but i somewhat assumed that i'd still have similar control of clips, with basically one knob being able to control the designated parameter of the active clip on that layer (and not affect clips on other layers, and not defaulting to take-over). Is there still a way to do this?
Sorry if i am not explaining in perfect terminology, as I have not yet fully wrapped my head around how shortcuts are handled in version 6, but from what i'm reading on other posts, i'm starting to wonder if i might have lost the necessary control(?) and am wondering if the only solution would be to either revert to version 4.6.4 (which works perfectly in these regards). (Or change to a controller with more knobs than i have space to carry around!). Hopefully i'm just overlooking something; or that there might be a re-integration of these features soon being added back to Avenue 6? Any info greatly appreciated.
many thanks!
