Clip speed setting itself at 0

Post by RaraAvis »

Hi Guys,

I'm running a theatre show with some projection and am using Resolume 6 with DMX control.

I'm having an issue where clips will set themselves to a speed of 0 meaning the clip won't play.

No where in the programming or clips am I setting this or asking it to do this.. just wondering if anyone has any ideas on why this may be...

I would've thought the speed of the DMX controlled layer would override the clip speed but this doesn't seem to be the case.

Is there a way to 'lock' all the speeds at 1? I have used an envelope to do this on the group speed and comp speed but cant seem to find a way to do it on layers or clips.

Thanks,

Chris

The layer's speed slider is actually the same as the clip's speed, so if you change that, that will change the speed of the clip that's playing in the layer permanently.

Enter DMX shortcut mapping and check the Layer speed sliders, and the Clip panel's speed slider also for shortcuts.

That's not possible currently.
What you could try, would be to set the clips to BPM sync, so they are not affected by the speed sliders.

Great thanks, I'll look into this.

Is there a way to use BPM speed and retain the original clip duration? How does it work? or does it try and fit the clip length to the overall BPM? How does the maths work for this?

It also seems to be happening with clip position.. when clips start sometimes the position means they're way off the canvas.

I've found I can lock position using the envelope and hold curve.

You'd set the clip's BPM to the same as you have set your composition's tempo.

This does not happen out of nowhere. You have a shortcut set somewhere that's triggering this behavior.

Hi Joris,

I understand what you're saying.

I am also have issues with videos playing backwards even though I never use a DMX shortcut to send the backwards playback mode.

I do have the option to send the backwards command in the console but do not use it and it is not programmed in the cue list at all.

Any thoughts?

There can't be empty channels in Artnet. You either send all 512 channels, or send none.
So make sure the channel of the direction controls is set to the value that corresponds to forwards in your cues.

If you never use it, you could also remove the shortcuts form the clip, layer, group, and composition direction controls.
