Fair point
However I bet we'd be looking far closer for things like 'a little unsharp'ness than the average punter viewing the performance.
I encode MJPEG at 80% though so I expect a little degredation in quality anyway, which in the club environment is (I think) negligible, plus it takes a huge chunk off the file size AND the performance is so good.
MJPEG still has more than enough definition for me and I'd rather not drop frames for slightly better quality.
what is best codec to use
good point!!
one small argument against: image quality is being developped in everyway nowadays. DVD - High Definition TV's dvd' recording - home theathers surround sound e.d. The VJ can not stay behind ?
Ok we can not go much above 400 x 300 with the hardware we use, but I see a clear difference in sharpness between ligos indeo and MJPEG.. it just bothers me,
and that sucks! i want the best
VJ is about eye-candy too it has to be beautiful - and thus sharp.
cheers

has anyone tried midivid performace codec. I have been using it with vjamm for years
http://www.midivid.com
triggers faster than anything i have seen , quality good and file size is small. only draw back is that the codec takes much Time to render
