Hi Reso team and forum members,
Have a bit of an odd problem happening on a newer iMac pro 2017.
iMac Pro (2017)
3.2 GHz Intel Xeon W (8 Core / 16 Thread)
32 GB of 2666 Ram (stock)
Radeon Pro Vega 56 (stock - 8 GB ram)
Coming out to a 1920/1080 60p monitor (Same issues on custom EDID, and ultra wide applications)
So I'm having odd FPS jitter/stutter on video playback out of Arena 6 (latest version 6.1.3 rev 63441 although I had this issue on the version prior as well). The issue is inconsistent in nature, maybe around every 5-15 seconds it will decide to slow down from 60fps to 45...lowest I've seen is 38fps...all for just a second or 2...the only oddity I've been able to find in regards to resource is this weird CPU jump from 80-90% (allocated cpu) to 105-110% in activity monitor...the CPU load tracking graph in Activity Monitor is showing that the CPU is 88-90% idle during this process down near the bottom so I am inferring its not directly the CPU/resource availability causing these issues and I'm leaning more into a process or an incongruity causing this odd stutter. (Check screen shot below of activity monitor window). Maybe MacOS is allocating too little of the CPU to Resolume (not sure if this is even a possibility, but def would like clarification from anyone who knows Mac OS's workings and can explain how the CPU allocation works). If this is something MacOS is capable of doing, is there anyway to remove CPU allocation gating/capping for Resolume?
The amount of layers playing back or the strain of the effects on each layer/clip has not changed the frame rate or the stutter. it remains the same with or without a load. I could be pushing no content through and the FPS will still dip randomly once every handful of seconds.
Zoltan, thanks for the suggestions made in regards to this on the facebook group! Had I had more time to diagnose on show site, I'm sure id be a lot closer to figuring this one out. (gfxCardStatus did not work, will not open on this iMac for some weird reason)
I don't have much time to be on forum the next few days, but will check in every few hours and update with further information if anyone has any further idea on things to check or fixes for this issue.
Thanks in advanced everyone!
Ish
iMac Pro 2017 - 102-105% CPU load? Shouldn't be possible...

The frame stutter sounds like this osx bug: https://forums.developer.apple.com/thread/112468
Could be GPU specific, I don't see it on my older macbook, seems to happen on mojave only.
