I am still fairly new (within the last 9 months) to VJing, and I feel like our production has come a long way. The band I work for full time is running Resolume Avenue 6 for their main graphics VJ software. That is all well and good, however we are now trying to implement this ElGato card to take our HDMI out from a Roland HDMI video switcher and bring that back into our computer for recording and possibly streaming our show eventually. We also have a Focusrite 2i2 interface to get audio from a Midas M32 rack. The issue is when we are running the Elgato card, their capture software, and Resolume our CPU can hit from 65% to spikes to 100%. This can on occasion bring in lag spikes to Resolume and the recorded content. I have already converted my entire Resolume library to DXV3 with Alley at normal quality. I am running an Asus ROG strix laptop with an i7 7 series 16gb ram and a gtx1060 6gb carb. The GPU only hits around 30-40%. In the future we would like to possibly implement all of our cameras into Resolume to utilize the onboard effects as only one of ours does now over USB 3.0 at 1080p.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. The laptop has a type c port but it is NOT Thunderbolt. If you know reliable cards that handle the encoding themselves that would be ideal. Thank you all for your time!..
