Morgan MJPEG quality horrible

Post by ecin »

As soon as I thought I had this codec thing figured it, I ended up back at step 1 again. There's a lot of talk about MJPEG codecs on this board and much mention of Morgans MJPEG codec. I downlaoded the trial and tested it out through some clips shot on my DV cam. Looks great, runs fast in Resolume. Not the case elsewhere.

Recently I've started producing CG content again through After Effects. When I export them out as AVI's with Morgans MJPEG codec, they look like shit. at 100% quality and a birate of 1500Kbps they still look highly compressed.

What am I missing?

Check the attached image to see what I'm talking about.

when outputting through after effects are using the render queu or make movie function? Render queu is much better, and gives you more control... Try outputting it as fully uncompressed, then use a different engine to encode it other than after effects.

just suggestions...

i'm definitely using the render queue.

i could render out uncompressed and then encode elsewhere but its an extra step i'd like to avoid.

turns out no matter where i render from i end up with the same quality.

got myself a copy of PICVIDEO and it works like a charm. guess i'll stick with it.
