Denon prime identical song in multiple decks

Hi,

I am evaluating Arena (7.6.1) to show music videos controlled over Denon Prime Gear (e.g. Prime GO). I managed to get it up and running by following the toturial on YouTube but I run problems whenever I load a song in more then one deck - which I need to do in order to do some mix technics (especially juggling a.k.a. scratching and repeating portions of a song multiple times).

What happens is that the video is played correctly by Arena on whichever deck the corresponding song is loaded first. On the second deck Arena shows nothing, just a black screen. It doesn´t matter to which deck a song is loaded first Arena will allways show the video on this deck. Other than that everything seems to work just fine. I can load each song to each deck - as long as it is only loaded once at a time.

All the video files are reencoded by Alley without audio as suggested by the toturial.

Any suggestions what setting I could be missing? Or is Arena not able to have one video-file that is linked to one audio-file but loaded into 2 decks at the same time?

Works fine for me.
Do you have free layers to play the videos on?

Maybe try to set Composition Clip Target to free layer.

If you still have issues, could you post some screenshots or a screen recording of how things go wrong for you?

Hi Zoltán,

thanks for your quick reply. I tried the free layer target option as you suggested which worked fine with different videos, loading the same video to a second deck did not lead to have the video positioned in multiple layers. However I discovered that the video would be played back on the second deck (which shows just a black screen as long as the same video is loaded into both decks) as soon as I loaded a different video into the first deck. Seems like Arena would not place a second instance of the video to a free layer.

Anyhow I'm gonna send the Prime Go back since it bothered me with multiple freezings/ crashes with or without Arena connected, no matter if it run with Engine OS 1.6.2 or 2.0.1. I don't know if this post might help anyone with a similar problem but I wanna thank you again for your reply.

Are you playing the same audio track too on both players?

If the same audio track is playing, Resolume will only use the first one's position.

Yes. Thta's exactly what I need to do for beat juggling.

So from my understanding that means it is a limitation of what Arena can do as far as DJ-synced operation is concerned?

Yes, that's how we designed Resolume to follow Denon tracks, with the default settings.
You can have multiple video files assigned to a specific track, and they can play with an offset to the track.
You can have different effects on these clips.

There is no way for Resolume to tell which clip you want to play to which one of the same tracks, by default.

Switching this from Any to a specific player, the Video should follow the track if played on the selected player only. With this, you should be able to do what you'd like.
