Newbie after some basic info before buying a license.

Post by Uriahdemon »

Hi All,
I am looking to get a license for Resolume but not sure which version I need hence needing some advice please. I am a lighting engineer and looking to add a video capability to my rig. It will be from a projector onto a screen (for now). I hope to trigger the video via my lighting desk, and design my own video. Any info would be much appreciated to help me decide which one I need.

Thanks, I am guessing that also. I am however just trying to find out the following specifics with Arena:

Will it allow me to compile and edit video
Can I output from a laptop running Arena to a projector
Can Arena be configured to trigger video clips from a lighting desk

At this time I do not need Pixel functionality only projection. Do I still need Arena .....??

you need to start reading a bit.... most of the questions are easy and basic...

or just download the full funcional software as demo and go exploring

DMX is Arena only so this avenue or arena topic is set.... ;)

Yes, if you want lighting deck control.

our support page is a great resource of info, and searchable too ;) http://resolume.com/support

Not necessarily, you can do a lot with built in sources and effects.
Wire is fun though!

Thanks Zoltan.

Could you please just summarise what WIRE can provide me over and above Arena for content generation/editing and thanks again.

With Wire, you can make your own effects, sources and transitions/blends.
