Wire: Keystone and/or general transformations with z depth

Post by webel »

General need is to get a more 3D feel through perspective control. Needs to be in Wire, not Resolume Arena/Avenue for finer control.

I can texture map an image or video to, for example, a Trapezoid shape (or 4 of them rotated with 45 degree angles to make a nice "trapezoidal window"), but it still looks too flat.

I want to make kind of "room tunnel", 4 walls with the wall perspective driven to variously give the feel that it is going backwards in the z direction, to give a 3D feel. Keystone (from Resolume) achieves this to some extent. Haven't figured out yet how to achieve similar in Wire.

In general, it would be nice to have more general transformations that take advantage of at least a "pseudo" z.

I've been mis-using the skew in Tile a bit, but it's not really the same thing.

Another separate but related case: The Transform node can only perform a very basic flat rotation (around a z-axis out of the screen). In many basic video tools one can perform rotations about x and y, so that textures appear to rotate back into the scene, giving more depth. (Excuse my mentioning other software, but the humble ScreenFlow screencast editing software does this nicely; Final Cut Pro does not have as much control in this respect).

PS: If I am "taking Resolume (Avenue) on a second date", please don't let Avenue know that I'm also increasingly dating Wire, and sometimes I date Avenue and Wire on the same evening. Shhhhhh!

Good news, we're working on proper 3D support ;)
Meanwhile, maybe ISF could help? https://resolume.com/support/en/isf

Avenue and Wire like to hook up together, no worries :D
