Lag when Blackmagic HDMI to SDI is connected

Post by Rob2601 »

I have a strange issue where Resolume lags when being output to a Blackmagic HDMI to SDI converter, which then runs down 80m SDI into a Nova processor. When I start a video it lags to begin with and then goes back to normal after 5-10 seconds. This is strange because I do not have the same issue when I plug direct into the Nova processor with HDMI from the MacBook, and I do not have the issue if there is no output plugged in.

I'm running Resolume through my MacBook Pro, which I have recently bought so I am guessing it is the new MacBook that is the problem as I didn't have this issue with my old MacBook. This MacBook should be better and more powerful than my old one as its an i9 processor with 1TB SSD with graphics card information posted below.

Radeon Pro 560X 4 GB
Intel UHD Graphics 630 1536 MB

I even have this issue when I create a new composition and only import one video into it. This makes me think there is a possible issue with the graphics card on the Mac that I have bought.

I believe this is an issue between the MacBook and the Blackmagic converter and was wondering if anyone else has had similar problems?

Thanks

Do you also see the lag in the Resolume preview monitor?

Be careful with BMD they are notorious for giving poor results with LED walls. The bi-directional converters are banned from any and all major riders because they force limited RGB range. (In short BMD cut's way too many corners to be used in a professional environment, be careful!)

What happens if you connect your HDMI directly to the processor? Any lag there?
