Hey Guys!
whats the benefit of an FX4 over an X4 as i could simply use DVI-D to HDMI converters?
As i read praise and praise about the FX4 but the X4 is rarely mentioned.
Thanks for Info!
Datapath X4 vs FX4
Re: Datapath X4 vs FX4
While the x4 was just DVI, the Fx4 is HDMI and DisplayPort.

Re: Datapath X4 vs FX4
so then a X4 for 500 bucks is not that bad of a deal correct? and i simply use DVI/HDMI adapters and im ready to go!
Re: Datapath X4 vs FX4
The X4 and FX4 do have more differences than just the connector. etc.
In short.
The x4 is dual link DVI input, think just 2x1080p signals.
Will do 4x720p outs for example.
The x4's outputs are not as adjustable as the fx4. You cant scale the output/input map..
AKA if you set an output to be say 720p out, that is the resolution it will take from the input. End of.
The FX4 is far more adjustable. You can use it to scale etc a lot more and fine adjust every output far more.
Best input is the DP1.4, hdmi is only 4k30 iirc.
Things you can do with fx4 for example are, 3 outputs for projectors/led screens and 4th output as a full screen scaled down to 1080p preview... Just not possible in the X4

so if i cant get at least 1080p per Output i think its not an Option for me. So seem i have to save up for an FX4.
Re: Datapath X4 vs FX4
The Fx4's outputs are are also limited to 1920x1200 IIRC (exact resolution may be slightly different but think single channel dvi).
The main difference is that inside that fullhd output you can SCALE from any resolution of the input, while the number of physical pixels "in the cable" don't change.

Re: Datapath X4 vs FX4
I have checked the manual of the X4 and it says i can go in with 4K 30HZ and go out with 4 x 1080p 60Hz
(page 5 of the manual)
https://datapathdocuments.co.uk/wp-cont ... ide_EN.pdf
so thats fine to me i dont need more.
why you thought its just 720p?

Re: Datapath X4 vs FX4
got a mint X4 now for 400,- € and hope it will do the job and scale as advertised from 4k 30hz Input to 4 x 1080p 60Hz Output.
I will inform about the result for later readers.
