Drop shadow/color/hsb/alpha does nothing

As the title says.
Setting up a drop shadow, assigning the colour to HSB and then tweaking the alpha value of the HSB does nothing at all, the colour is always 100% solid.

do you have some more dretails on what you do ecactly?
