Crashes when firing columns

Post by jacoblamb »

Hey all,

I’ve experienced three crashes now during various sets that seem to occur when changing columns in my composition. It has happened with multiple clips and multiple different columns. So far it seems like it’s not immediately repeatable, but I can at least verify that each crash has occurred in the middle of the transition between columns. It’s a newer windows build, so perhaps it’s a software issue - I’ll update graphics drivers and report back if that’s a fix. I also do not believe that it’s a hardware performance issue. The new build is pretty stout and has plenty of power. Some additional details:

Version 7.15
All vid files are DXV3, stills are .png and .jpg
AMD Ryzen 7950X
AMD RX 7900 XTX
Decklink 8k extreme for some extra I/O (main output device is RX 7900 XTX)

Anyone have any ideas on how to troubleshoot this further?

Thanks everyone.

PNG and jpeg can call for trouble if they are huge resolutions.
Dual GPU setups can also have weird issues.

Do you see the crash reporter window pop up?

If so, please fill it out and send it. Don't forget to fill out your email address, so we know it came from you ;)

Hey Zoltan,

I the software and machine have been running smoothly for a couple weeks up until about a week ago when I experienced another crash under the same circumstances. It seems like the Stripper effect is the common denominator here - perhaps that could be the culprit. Crash Log sent (about a week ago).
